Hound Engineering Services LLC started out back in 2006 as S.U.E. Contractors, Inc. in Puerto Rico. Back then, we only focused on Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and underground utility locating for many private and public clients. As the business grew, we started diversifying into construction of utilities by trenchless methods and completed several Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) projects in the island.

The economic recession and later depression of 2010 in Puerto Rico, forced us to seek new challenges in Houston, Texas. S.U.E. Contractor, Inc made a pause in its offerings and in 2019 decided to reopen as rebranded Hound Engineering Services LLC to offer a broader line of services to its clients. We specialize in SUE utility locating work but will also continue to innovate in the trenchless construction industry by offering our clients cutting edge technology and methods of rehabbing, replacing and building underground utilities in every segment of the industry. Our engineering and construction services are available to both the public and the private sectors as we strive to change the way our utilities are being built and rehabbed using the latest technologies available or develop them ourselves.

Mr. Dennis G. Rodriguez, PE has been directly involved with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) work since he started as a Civil Engineer infrastructure designer back in 2001 when we graduated with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. In 2006 and after working for several site design firms, he formed S.U.E. Contractors, Inc. to provide a solution to the engineering industry in Puerto Rico where SUE was not even heard among the design engineers. He took on himself the monumental task of not only educating his clients on the benefits of performing SUE services on their projects but also performing the SUE services with crews he had to train and manage himself. After his business in Puerto Rico took a hit with the local economy crumbling starting in 2010, he decided to move to Houston, Texas where he worked as a design engineer with a world leader in the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) field. Mr. Rodriguez later managed the Houston office for one of the US leading Subsurface Utility Engineering firms providing SUE services for TXDOT and many other public and private clients. His vast experience with underground utility work, puts him in a privilege position to offer these services to his clients.
